À propos de l'événement

Organiser: SWISS UMEF UNIVERSITY and 10ème Gingembre de ContinentPremier’

SWISS UMEF UNIVERSITY and the Association ContinentPremier founded by El Hadj Gorgui Wade Ndoye, United Nations journalist, organises a conference on the topic ‘What leadership for the industrialisation of Africa?’

Objective

Economists agree that industrialisation is a mandatory step for development. Africa has been a laggard in industrialisation, with the limited number of industries owned essentially by foreign capital. So far Africa has been mostly a supplier of commodities for industries and importing finished products from the developed economies. It is important to understand the cause of this situation and one of them appears to be the role of the national leaders and the business model most suitable to the business environment.

Outcome

  • To understand the role of national leaders in the development of industrialisation and the impact of decisions towards that objective.
  • To identify the most important barriers to industrialisation in an African context.
  • To identify the risks of investing in industries on the continent.
  • Understand the geopolitical and geoeconomic barriers to industrialisation.
  • The industrialisation model in other countries.
