About us

SWISS UMEF was founded in Geneva on April 26, 1984, by Professor Marc-François Maret, previously known as Institut Supérieur de Gestion et Communication (ISGC).

Since 2010, the management has been under the direction of Professor Djawed Sangdel, presently elected as deputy to the Geneva Grand Conseil (Parliament) where he is active as a member of the Education, Higher Education and Housing Commissions.

He has put in place a team to ensure the further development, qualitatively and quantitatively of SWISS UMEF. This has led to the obtention of several accreditations, such as the Federal Swiss Accreditation, in accordance with the Higher Education Act (HEdA).

SWISS UMEF is proud to have been the first, and until now unique, private federally accredited institution as a University of Applied Sciences Institute in the Canton of Geneva.

SWISS UMEF is also accredited for its Management Sciences faculty by Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) and International Accreditation Council on Business Education (IACBE). Both are recognised by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), the largest accreditation organisation in the USA that specialises in higher education quality.

It is also certified for its continued education programmes by eduQua, the Swiss System of Quality and Management Organisation.

SWISS UMEF has three faculties: management sciences, Sciences and technology and political sciences. It offers programmes at bachelor, master and continuing education level. All its programmes are fully compatible with the Bologna European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) and the European Space for Higher Education norms.

SWISS UMEF is in the historic continuity of Europe’s outstanding university background with its campus located in a 15th-century Chateau (castle) in Geneva, offering on its two-hectare facility, an extremely pleasant and beautiful environment that allows students to study in ideal surroundings.
