On 03/09/2022, students of the Executive Master Programme of International Relations and Global Politics had an excellent opportunity to participate in the lecture held by HE Geoffrey Hoon, former UK Defence Secretary.
Mr Hoon made a presentation of the historical developments of global politics of the last 100 years, with special emphasis on the cold war, as well as the developments after it. Also, since Mr Hoon has for a long time held the position of defence secretary as well as other high political positions of the United Kingdom, he shared with the attendees his experience in decision-making on many important political decisions with a significant impact in global politics. The role of NATO and military alliances after the cold war, investments in defence, armed conflicts in different countries of the world, as well as the role of Europe in global political developments, were some of the discussed that took place.
Students had the opportunity to have a very constructive debate with Mr Hoon, who shared his views and experience on many different aspects.
